Cathedral Shop

The Visitors Centre of Winchester Cathedral has a shop, shown here, and through the doorway is the refectory (cafe/restaurant) and a box office. The shop is open every day and is run by 30 volunteer shop assistants. The visitors centre was opened by the Queen in 1993.

  1. The plant stall is new to me. The range of gifts and souvenirs inside used to be very good, not too tacky.

I once witnessed a dreadful row between two elderly lady volunteers in there. Very unchristian behaviour, I thought! :)

  2. I know it well. I buy most of my birthday and Christmas pressies there.

I just sent my Dad a rugby-shirt (?) with the Cathedral logo on it.

  3. I really like the contrast of the blue trim and the brick. Looks inviting.

  4. THIRTY shop assistants? I'd hate to have to do that particular rota!

  5. Yes, it's a nice little shop, they have some nice cards and Christmas too. The Cathedral seems to have a lot of volunteers working there.
